“TODAY, LVIV SETS THE BAR FOR ALL OF US TO MOVE TOWARDS,“ SAID VIKTOR LIASHKO ABOUT THE NEW REHABILITATION BUILDING UNBROKEN
Today, on 12 April, Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko attended the International Rehabilitation Forum at the UNBROKEN Rehabilitation center. After visiting the new rehabilitation building, Viktor Liashko noted that he was impressed by how quickly and innovatively Lviv created all the opportunities for the comprehensive rehabilitation of Ukrainians.
“I am impressed by what I have seen. I am grateful to everyone who joined this project. It is indeed another innovative step towards the rehabilitation system in Ukraine. I think that today UNBROKEN sets the bar to which we should all aspire when considering the development of a network of rehabilitation departments and centers in Ukraine. Now we have a completely different view of healthcare rehabilitation. To restore a person to the best possible quality, we need such centers.
Today, compared to the previous year, we have reached 8,000 rehabilitation sessions per day, although last year, we could do 3,000. That’s why you can see how many departments are opening. As a state, we have taken a step forward and raised tariffs for comprehensive rehabilitation, and this is an additional financial incentive for other medical institutions to improve their departments.
The Ministry of Health is a partner for the UNBROKEN center in Lviv, and we have done a lot together. Our task is to provide adequate funding for the institution, recruit specialists and ensure their professional development to work for a single result – to restore a person after an injury,” said Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine.
We remind you that a modern rehabilitation building at the UNBROKEN National center opened in Lviv. It has seven floors with the most modern recovery equipment. Every year, 10,000 Ukrainians will be able to receive help here.
Modern equipment was installed in the new building of the rehabilitation center: a robotic walking system, exoskeletons, robotic gloves that help to move the arm, etc. There are also rehabilitation halls with steel lifts so that bedridden patients can move to the pool or rehabilitation room.
Soon, the swimming pool will also start working, as water rehabilitation is an integral part of recovery. The building also has an ergotherapy apartment with a kitchen, where patients can learn to care for themselves in the most homely environment possible. Occupational therapists will help them to hold a toothbrush or pencil again. There will also be a simulated store where patients can practice shopping.
The International Rehabilitation Forum is held in Lviv on 11-13 April. Specialists from around the world – doctors, experts, representatives of international institutions, foundations and European countries – are working together to discuss, analyse and develop ways to provide quality rehabilitation for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
Organisers: UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation center, Red Cross of Ukraine. The exclusive partner is Direct Relief.
Lviv City Council, Lviv Regional Military Administration, Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine, and Ministry of Social Policy supported the Forum. The Forum’s partner is the UNBROKEN Charitable Foundation.
