NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINING OF REHABILITATION AND PROSTHETICS SPECIALISTS

The UNBROKEN Center and Hillel IT School have launched a social educational project for professionals rehabilitating severely wounded defenders. The first stage is free English language training for employees of the National Rehabilitation Center.

Knowledge of a foreign language greatly expands opportunities for gaining new knowledge and advanced training. In particular, it allows Ukrainian specialists to cooperate even more closely with their colleagues abroad, do internships, and learn from experience and best practices. It also helps to improve the quality of rehabilitation services in Ukraine.

Currently, 17 specialists of the UNBROKEN Center are taking a free course at the Hillel IT School to improve their English language skills.

“Knowledge of English allows our specialists to broaden their horizons, exchange experience with foreign colleagues, and improve the quality of care we provide to patients. We are already seeing the first real results of the project: our specialists are more confident in communicating in English and using the new knowledge in their work,” says Vladyslav Sikhovsky, head of the UNBROKEN Prosthetics and Orthotics Center.

Additionally, 10 more prosthetics and rehabilitation specialists are to start training within a month.

“This project not only helps professionals, but will also provide additional real opportunities for patients. After all, it is for their recovery that the prosthetists and physical therapists of the UNBROKEN Center expand their knowledge in this area. We believe that there will be more and more such initiatives in Ukraine, and this will have a significant impact on improving the situation in the field of rehabilitation and prosthetics now and after the war,” adds Vadym Drumov, CEO and co-founder of Hillel IT School.

For reference:

According to the latest published data from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, as of November 2023, more than 50 thousand Ukrainians have amputations as a result of the war. The number of people with lost limbs is growing every day, and there is still a shortage of highly qualified rehabilitation and prosthetics specialists. That is why the UNBROKEN Center actively involves colleagues from different parts of Ukraine in training with foreign specialists who come to Lviv.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of January 2025, there are about 300 prosthetists and orthotists in the country. To be able to collaborate with foreign colleagues and learn from the best specialists, they need to know English.

The educational project for foreign specialists at the National Rehabilitation Center will continue until 2025. The second stage involves increasing the number of participants.
