RECONSTRUCTION OF UNBROKEN MEDICAL CENTER IN BRYUKHOVYCHY

Recently, thanks to the support of the Lithuanian government, Centrinė projektų valdymo agentūra (CPVA) and the Red Cross Society, we have started reconstruction of the Center in Bryukhovychi. Currently, dismantling works are underway: builders are removing the tiles and roof from the old building.

The reconstruction project involves not only major repairs of the premises, but also the completion of the third floor and the construction of two new buildings. Thus, the area of the Medical Rehabilitation Center, where military and civilians recover from injuries, severe traumas and strokes, will triple! And at the same time, the center will be able to provide care to more than 100 patients.

“After the reconstruction, the center's area will be 9000 m². This will allow us to significantly increase the scope of rehabilitation services for Ukrainians affected by the war. We are sincerely grateful to the Lithuanian government and the team of the Central Project Management Agency for their support, which will help create modern conditions for the quality rehabilitation of our defenders and all those affected by the war,” said Andriy Pavliv, Head of the Investment and Project Department of the Lviv City Council, during a visit to Bryukhovychi and a meeting with foreign partners.

Rehabilitation is one of the main priorities of the Lithuanian government's policy of supporting Ukraine. In particular, their experts will help develop a comprehensive rehabilitation program for veterans, which will be implemented not only in Lviv, but also in Dnipro and Zhytomyr, where the Lithuanian side is also helping with the reconstruction of medical facilities.

The goal of this program is to improve the quality of medical and psychosocial rehabilitation, facilitate a return to active life, and develop a network of rehabilitation and reintegration facilities and services in Ukraine. The Lithuanian side will also organize trainings for Ukrainian specialists and develop modern algorithms for providing quality patient care.

“Infrastructure is very important and we support this area. But it is also important to take care of the quality of the service delivery process in all areas: medical, psychological rehabilitation, socialization and reintegration. Therefore, we do not just teach something. This is cooperation. Together with your team of specialists, we analyze, create a training plan, and have already started to conduct them. We unite specialists from our hospitals and yours into teams, who try to share their experience with specialists from other clinics. So this is a joint effort. We have a clear plan for 2 years: what is needed, where we can help, and where other international donors can be involved to improve the quality of rehabilitation centers in Ukraine. We do not work directly with patients. Our goal is to improve the quality of services provided by the medical system of Ukraine as a whole,” Artūras Žarnovskis, Head of the Program ‘Building Ukraine's Future Together’ of the Central Project Management Agency of Lithuania, emphasized during his visit to Lviv.

As a reminder, Lithuania has allocated EUR 5.6 million for the reconstruction of the rehabilitation center in Bryukhovychi through the Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund, and the Japanese Red Cross and the German organization GIZ have allocated EUR 2.5 million each.
