DIRECT RELIEF WILL DONATE A MILLION DOLLARS TO SUPPORT UNBROKEN
The First Medical Association of Lviv and the American humanitarian organization Direct Relief signed a memorandum of cooperation. First step will be the allocation of 1 million US dollars to the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN, which is based on the First Medical Association of Lviv. Funds from the Direct Relief grant will be used to purchase rehabilitation equipment and staff training.
“During the full-scale invasion, more than 7,000 wounded citizens received help at the UNBROKEN Center. These are military and civilians, adults and children. We treated 80,000 internally displaced people. We are very grateful to Direct Relief for the support of indomitable Ukrainians. After all, with your help, we will get even more opportunities for the treatment and rehabilitation of our people” – said Oleg Samchuk, general director of the First Medical Association of Lviv
According to data by the World Health Organization, more than 14.5 million people need medical care in Ukraine. Thousands of Ukrainians need long-term rehabilitation assistance.
“Ukraine faces many challenges that go beyond the battlefield, including those faced by health care providers affected by shelling and people injured in the fighting. We understand that for many these injuries will remain for a lifetime, and that is why Direct Relief allocates significant resources to support the important work of the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN” – said Thomas Tighe, Direct Relief, President and CEO.
Direct Relief is the largest benefactor of Ukrainian medicine. In 2022, the humanitarian organization provided our country with medicines and medical equipment in the amount of 640 million dollars with a total volume of more than 1,000 tons.
