RISEN FROM ASHES. THE STORY OF UNBROKEN ANASTASIA SAVKA
The indomitable sniper with the nickname “Phoenix” has recovered from her injury and wants to return to the front to defend the future of her son and her country.
Anastasia Savka, 25, from Lviv, lost her leg when she hit an enemy mine. The fragments severely damaged the defender’s left leg, and it could not be saved. Now she is recovering from her injury at the National Rehabilitation Center UNBROKEN.
Before the great war, Anastasia was raising her son Yarema and working in a car service center. And since the beginning of the invasion, she has become a sniper with the codename “Phoenix”. As part of the 118th Brigade, she was destroying enemies in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
After being wounded in her native Lviv, surgeons at the UNBROKEN Center fused the sniper’s stump. The girl has a low amputation, so the center’s specialists give a favorable prognosis for the sniper’s future prosthetics.
While the wound is healing, Anastasia is undergoing physical and psychological rehabilitation at the Center. Five-year-old Yarema, who has been brought up by her parents since the sniper’s service, visits his mother all the time.
“My son Yarema associates Ukraine with war. He is still very young and is in a relatively safe place. He often says that he is afraid to grow up, go to ‘Ukraine’ and die. I don’t want him to live in such constant fear and shudder at the sound of sirens. That’s why I have to guarantee his safety and future,” says Anastasia Savka, the UNBROKEN Sniper.
