This week, the UNBROKEN BOXING CLINIC, a joint project of the UNBROKEN Center and the Danish sports prosthetics company Levitate, took place in Lviv. As part of the clinic, the Center’s patients received running and walking feet. 32 prostheses were a gift from benefactors. They were given to 13 defenders and their motivational coach.

After trying on the gifts, the UNBROKEN immediately entered the boxing ring.

One of them is Maksym Marchenko, a volunteer from Kyiv region. He lost his leg fighting for Soledar last year.

“The feeling is incredible, as if I have regained something that has been missing for a long time. The running foot is the best thing that has happened to me in recent times, I can return to an active life,” the defender shared his emotions.

“This is our second visit to Ukraine in cooperation with UNBROKEN. A few months ago, we already held the UNBROKEN RUNNING CLINIC. These are extremely important projects where we, together with the Center’s team, help Ukrainians who lost their limbs in the war, to continue to lead an active life even after amputation,” says Lesen, a prosthetics specialist.

UNBROKEN RUNNING and BOXING CLINIC is a form of rehabilitation that successfully combines two important components of recovery: psychological and physical. Firstly, it is a load that requires endurance and mobility, boxing and running have a good effect on coordination, which is extremely important for patients with amputations. Secondly, it has a great impact on the emotional state of the defenders, it brings new positive emotions.
